In probably the most disgraceful move in the Alberta running since the great ATCO hypocrit cheating scandal in the 2010 addition of the K100 relay, current Golden Bear XC runner Harry Moore called former Golden Bear XC captain and multiple CIAU medalist Matt Norminton fat. Moore was apparently upset at Norminton asking fellow Bear David Faulk what had happened to Harry at the UofS open. Faulk reply was that Harry was fat, which apparently lead to Harry lashing out at Norminton for some unknown reason. Probably because the last time they met in a XC race, Norminton beat Moore while wearing jogging pants.
At the time of the disgraceful event, Norminton was said to be more annoyed than the time Slowzaun called Norminton a cheater: "The thing with Joel is that it's hard to respect a guy who hasn't even cracked the top 50 at CIS, but I thought Harry had some class. Apparently I was wrong'.
To make matter's worse, Moore ducked Norminton at the Augustana open XC to get in more preparation for their head to head race at the series champs on Nov 13th to be held at Goldstick park. Moore, who failed to crack the top 50 at the UofS open, will be hoping that Norminton has a lot of course set up to do at the series champs so that he can try and not let the head to head standings versus the nearly master age runner swing too far in favour of the aging Bear. Today's no show is the equivalent of not showing up (in the words of the great Kurt Woytiuk). Current head to head standing:
Norminton 4 (Stewart Cup 2008, Edmonton 10k 2009, UofC open 2009, Augustana 2010) Moore 1 (Provincial 5000m 2009)

I'm standing by my previous ruling, a no-show does not count as a loss, especially when I had already said that I was not going to be at Camrose. If you're reaching that far to try to get head-to-head points you must be getting pretty worried. This coming from a guy who won't even be making an appearance at Stewart Cup, the only XC race in Alberta that matters.
I've almost finished sweating out the last of the Czech beer I consumed and am once again able to finish Sunday runs without walking. Typically my trash talk this time of the season is directed at the Husbands but this year I'm happy to change my focus.
I'll bring my stethoscope to the race in case you experience any heart problems, I've read that they can be common in men of your age and weight...

The last time I ran Stewart Cup I finished 3rd. Where did you finish in that one? You should be thankful I can't run this year. Don't worry, talks are in progress to bring together the Stewart Cup and ACAC champs for the future, maybe you'll get a chance to close the gap in the lifetime head to head score...
I'm happy to do some trash talking on behalf of the husbands, who I'm quite sure won't let me down in beating you in 2 weekends time!

I would like to take this opportunity to apologize to former Golden Bear Captain and multiple time CIS medalist Matthew Norminton.
I said some things that I should not have said. I was frustrated at the state of my season and lashed out at one of the legends of the team. You have accomplished more for the Bears than I ever will and I am sorry that you were the victim of my verbal abuse. Not only that but I failed to attend the competition in which we had both agreed to participate. Weighed down by my recent athletic disappointments I felt it necessary to escape Edmonton and find some solace in the mountains. I pride myself on being a man of my word, but the time away seemed to be the only way to regain some perspective.
The past few months have been very humbling for me, but I hope to come out of this a better person. I hope that you accept my apology and that one day I will be in the position to bring to the Bears some of the glory that you were able to attain.
Sincerely, Harry Moore

In lieu of buying me a double down for payment of losing the bet, I would like your help with organizing the XC series when you are done competing for da Bears. Deal?
