Brian went after the club record today, but came up a few minutes short. He was right on pace until the last 12km and then his legs gave out. But he hung on tough and managed to finish in a very respectable time of 2:40.
He finished in 8th!

He split 36:37 through 10km and 1:16:47 through the half.
I followed him on the bike from 23km to the finish. Some of the splits I have are:
23k - 28k : 18:27 (3:41 pace)
28k - 29k : 3:44
29k - 30k : 3:49
30k - 31k : 3:56
31k - 32k : 3:47
32k - 34k : 7:30 (uphill)
34k - 35k : 3:50
35k - 36k : 4:07 ('the wall')
36k - 37k : 4:17
37k - 38k : 4:19
38k - 39k : 4:38
39k - 40k : 4:55
40k - 41k : 4:40
41k - 42.2k : 4:42
You have to give him a lot of credit for going after the record and hanging on tough at the end. He had a really good battle in the last couple kilometres with a couple other guys and he unleashed a massive kick in the final 400 metres.
He seems to be in good spirits post-race and is doing his best to recover. Here is a picture of him after the finish.
